![]() It’s 90 per cent dramatic peril, and competently shot, but it leaves the dialogue scenes feeling suspiciously similar to video game cutscenes. 2/5Īnd in its desperation to maintain a relentless pace, even mundane events such as a bicycle race are recalibrated into pulsating action sequences. It’s no fun watching your action heroine get shoved, punched and kicked to the sidelines of her own movie, while the menfolk take over and take turns overacting before expiring. The Lara Croft reboot “Tomb Raider” isn’t half bad for an hour. Boring them? Now that’s a felony offense. When it comes to what should be the reliably dumb fun of tomb raiding, maybe there are worse crimes than insulting viewers’ intelligence or bombarding them with crappy special effects. What’s missing, quite critically, is the sense that anyone involved saw more than a renewable franchise and milkable intellectual property in the exploits of an X-treme spelunker. The last scene of the movie also hinted for a sequel film, which I am now eagerly anticipating.this Tomb Raider is a competently staged origin-story reboot, grounding the character’s globe-trotting, puzzle-solving adventures in something like a physical and even emotional reality. Tomb Raider has everything including hidden tombs, booby-trapped cave and even a deadly disease that turns victims into zombies. This film is also similar to the Tomb Raider game that was released in 2013. Tomb Raider is a popular franchise that relies heavily on its female protagonist, and for this reason, I believe that Vikander is a perfect fit for Croft. I feel that directors relying heavily on CGI are lazy in their composition of film. I believe that the swift fighting scenes were more successful than traditional explosions of destruction utilized in other action movies. Lara’s fighting skills can be seen through several scenes, like when she swings on a large hook to wrestle her backpack that gets stolen by thieves, or when she pierces her trustworthy ice pick through one of her enemy’s chests. One thing I really like about this film is that it portrays Lara as an ordinary person and it shows that you don’t need to have superpowers to be a badass hero. She delivers food, has many friends and occasionally goes to her local boxing ring. Tomb Raider begins with Lara in a big city.
